This little piece of entertainment news fluff has me thinking.
It is precisely because Mr. Shatner is an actor and a celebrity that I think this is a bad idea.
Yes, just like everyone I suppose I want the leader of my country to be charismatic, I want him or her to inspire, but I want that inspiration to be a derivative of his skill as a leader, of his passion for the country and its ideals. And I never want to have to wonder if it's for real or not.
Sorry Will, I like you just fine entertaining me, but I wouldn't want my country to be led by you, even if out of curiosity.
